{December 12, 2008}   Christmas Letter

Hello from Moreno Valley, California!  We are doing very well.  We are all working very hard and are very busy.  We just finished our room edition project that we started last year on December 26th.  We added an extra room, made our bedroom bigger, and gave our house a very nice face lift.  We love it!  We have been working on our backyard replacing the retaining walls and continue to prepare for a pool.  It should be all finished very soon.  We lost our dog Belle this year.  She was born just around twelve years ago.  It was very hard on us to lose such a special part of our family.  We gained a new puppy just before.  She is a Weimaraner and very cute.  Her name is Sadie.  We love this dog, but she is a pain.  Aren’t all puppies?   We spend every Friday with close friends which is very special.
Peter is currently learning to play the Cello.  He has had more time recently to spend on music.  He is currently playing bass on the youth worship team at Sandals church.  He has been taking classes through his work to be a machinist and has taken his test for  his State License for Water Treatment Operator Grade 2.  Studying and math have been his life for nearly a year.  He is doing really well at work.  He is also playing left defense for his hockey team “The Fury.”  Their team is in in third place in the Bronze North Division, (moved up from the Bronze South Division last season), won the championship last season, and he had 4 goals and 7 assists this year.
Angie is still teaching at Moreno Valley High School.  She teaches 11th grade American Literature.  This year she finally earned tenure which makes her a permanent teacher…finally!  She has directed and worked on two theater productions this year including: You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown and A MoVal Christmas Carol.  She is also a director for a Creative Writing Club.  She is currently working on a fantasy novel and loves to read in her spare time.  She has currently been reading The Legend of the Seeker series, Twilight Series, and just about anything else that looks fun.  It is a crazy time with lots of teenagers.
Alannah is fourteen and a freshman in High School attending with her mom.  She has been an instant celebrity.  It has been a little overwhelming for her, but she is adjusting just fine.  She is a Junior Varsity Cheerleader and a flyer ( they throw her up in the air).  She is really good at stunting and very good at being “the cheese.”  She performed The Beatles’ song “I Want to Hold Your Hand” for the talent show with her dad accompanying and won third place.  She is also participating in the theater program and played The Ghost of Christmas Present in the Christmas production at high school.  She is in honors classes and is doing very well academically.  We heard through the grapevine that she has the highest state test scores in our school.  She is planning to leave in April for France for two weeks on a Foreign Exchange trip, she will be in Caen.
Melody is twelve and in the seventh grade.  She has been taking violin lessons and doing very well.  She has her first recital in December.  She is still interested in art.  She really likes to read.  She spends most of her time in her bedroom reading novels.  She has recently finished the Twilight series as well and is now reading the classic, Wuthering Heights.  Melody excels at school and performs well academically in all areas.  Melody is planning to go on a 17 day trip to China as a Student Ambassador.  She is very excited.  Any contributions toward her trip would be greatly appreciated. J
Jason is eleven and in the sixth grade.  He has been training in Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing.  He is very flexible and quick.  He has been training three times a week for a year.  He is planning to take a break and try Ice Hockey like his dad.  He played roller hockey for several years.  He is doing really well in Middle School and likes his classes.  He especially likes his Computer classes.  He does really well with anything  electronic.  He often teaches us how to work our toys.  We call him the “Electronic Genius.”
We wish you and yours the very best.  We will keep you in our prayers and close
to our hearts always.  Have a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year!
